Springfree Trampoline Review

Springfree TrampolineTrampoline safety is an important factor in choosing a trampoline. Springfree trampolines have been touted as the safest trampolines on the market; even the safest in the world. However there are some issues you should be aware of when purchasing one of these trampolines or any springless trampoline with a similar design.

The following video by Justin Brock provides an objective review of the Springfree trampoline model SF90E

He covers three potential dangers that springless trampolines pose:

  • The long term damage these trampolines can cause to the knees due to the twisting action caused by the surface rotating each time the user hits the mat.
  • The danger the rods pose to a child’s hands should they place their hands in between the trampoline rods.
  • The danger posed to a child by a user hitting the side of the trampoline.

Hi im Justin Brock of tramplinesafety.com. Im here with Springfree trampoline model SF90E

Springfree trampoline is a high quality trampoline that uses a unique design. Like the name suggests it does not use typical steel springs like most trampolines. Instead the jumpers bounce is supported by reinforced fibreglass rods. This unique design of having the rail and rods below the mat protects the user from potential impact with these elements and eliminates the need for safety pads. Sounds like a great design but you must be aware of some significant hazards.

Let’s go over a few details that we found during the installation. Positioning the net is a really important step. If a mistake is made during this step it will consume a tremendous amount of time and cause a lot of frustration. Installing the rods takes some skill and a bit of strength. One of our test installers was unable to easily install the rods. Once we figured out how to install it, it took quite a bit of effort to remove them.

Here’s what it looks like when you’re done. After you enter through the door you need to shut the door using the zipper. Kids in a hurry may forget to close the door which can results in a potential hazard. Our observation was that this trampoline didn’t have as much bounce as a typical trampoline. Lab test results confirm that springfree is far less efficient then even the average bargain trampoline. That means you have to work harder to jump and you cannot jump as high.

Because of the unique bending design the entire surface rotates each time the user hits the mat. Although the rotations seem slight many users can experience pain and discomfort in their knees. This twisting action can lead to knee pain and potential long term injuries.

Another concern that we found was the safety of those watching from outside the unit. People outside the trampoline may not realize the potential dangers. Imagine the pain a child would suffer if their hands were crushed while watching a friend jump. Kids often watch while someone else takes a turn jumping on the trampoline. Imagining what could happen if the jumper looses control and impacts the net which could result in a catastrophic injury to either the user jumping on the trampoline or even someone outside the trampoline. The springfree trampoline with the unique new design eliminates the need for a safety pad and relocates the frame and spring rods elements below the jumping surface, thereby eliminating concerns of users being injured as the result of hitting the springs or frame. However the difficult assembly, poor performance, knee twisting action, rod pinch points and inadequate safety enclosure are definitely something to consider before purchasing this trampoline…… I am Justin Brock with trampolinesafety.com and this has been a review of Springfree trampoline model SF90E
